How to shift your focus from comparing yourself to others to your own abundant being!
I had a moment of comparisonitis this morning when I was scrolling through my Instagram feed. Looking upon someone's 'perfectly' poised, positioned and professional looking home office, all neat and tidy, and the person themselves looking very well groomed and styled, and I found myself feeling a bit envious of what 'looked' like something much more successful and professional than me. All from 1 photo!
I was quick to recognise that I had caught comparisonitis!!!!
I had compared what the photo 'looked like' and my projections onto it, of the person and level of success they had, and what I thought I had in comparison to those projections! And of course I was left feeling that I in comparison had less than (whatever that less than was - success? professional set-up? achievement?)
Of course social media is a snapshot into people's lives and experiences and yet at times we fall into feeling not good enough or not as good as, when we compare our whole life to someone else's snapshot on instagram!
In catching comparisonitis and my feelings of 'not good enough' I quickly realised that I had shifted into a position of perceived lack compared to another, rather than being in my usual position of perceived abundance.
I was focusing on the wrong things and place!
So I had to pivot and refocus back upon all the blessings and abundance in my own life! Literally I counted my blessings!
We can all fall victim to the green-eyed monster at times and whenever this happens, to grow and move from that place of perceived lack, we need to shift our energy and focus upon abundance and a feeling of gratitude! This moves us into a position of abundance, fullness and gratefulness!
Not only does it helps us to appreciate what we have in our lives, it also helps us to value and honour what other people have in their lives and their blessings and successes!
Counting our blessings doesn't take away from anyone else!
And valuing and celebrating others people's successes doesn't take away from our own!
So how to treat comparisonitis? Take a dose of gratitude and count your blessings!
